Chet Kanojia, Founder of Aereo
Chet Kanojia is the founder and CEO of Aereo, Inc., a groundbreaking online TV platform. Backed by a group of premiere investors and powered by a stellar engineering team, Aereo has developed proprietary cloud-based antenna and DVR technology that allows consumers to watch live or recorded HD broadcast television on virtually any type of Internet-connected device, including smart TVs, smartphones, tablets and computers. Previously, Chet was the founder and CEO of Navic Networks. Like Aereo, Navic Networks addressed the challenges of today’s highly fragmented media landscape. Under Chet’s direction, Navic Networks grew to be the undisputed industry leader in advanced television advertising. Navic Networks was subsequently acquired by Microsoft in 2008. Chet, who holds more than 14 patents in fields ranging from robotics to data communications systems, is an innovative leader known for pushing beyond the conventional and developing breakthrough solutions. He was recognized as a young executive making a lasting impact on his company and the cable and telecommunications industries in Multichannel News’ “40 under 40.” He holds a master’s degree in Computer Systems Engineering from Northeastern University and a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology in Bhopal, India. Bob Dorf is likely the second most knowledgeable Customer Development expert on the planet, second only to his business partner, co-author and friend of 20 years, Steve Blank, who developed the methodology after retiring from his eighth startup, E.piphany, when it achieved a market cap of $8-billion. Dorf helped Steve Blank deploy and test the Customer Development process when E.piphany opened its doors with five employees in 1996. Dorf later critiqued the earliest versions of Steve’s Four Steps to the Epiphany mercilessly along the way, and they’ve been friends and colleagues ever since. Dorf lives in Stamford with his wife Fran, a therapist and thrice-published novelist. Bill is the managing partner of Google Ventures, where he and his team are seeking out new technologies, startups, and disruptive ideas. He brings with him a combination of technical expertise and hands on startup experience, including founding Web hosting pioneer Burlee.com (now part of Web.com), where he built much of the key computing, network, and technological infrastructure. Prior to that, Bill was a biotechnology and healthcare portfolio manager for Stockholm, Sweden-based Investor AB. Bill’s background also includes research at the Duke University Medical Center, Department of Neurobiology with a focus on molecular and behavioral neuroscience. Rubin is the founder of All Games Productions, All Games Network, and co-founder of the G4 television network, in addition to being a talk show host and television producer. AllGames launched in 1996, and in 2000 Rubin was hired as a consultant for Comcast to develop a 24-7 cable TV channel about video games. As co-founder of G4 Media, Rubin served as VP of Internet and Program Development. Rubin also served as a Producer on the first 3 seasons of the EA Sports Madden Challenge, and play by play guy for the first two Madden Challenge Finals.

Khosla co-founded Sun Microsystems (SUN is the acronym for the Stanford University Network), along with Stanford classmates Scott McNealy, Andy Bechtolsheim, and UC Berkeley computer science graduate student Bill Joy. Khosla served as the first chairman and CEO of Sun Microsystems from 1982 to 1984, when he left the company to become a venture capitalist. In 1986, Khosla joined the venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers as a general partner. At Kleiner, Khosla became a recognized venture capitalist, with several successful early stage investments.
