The Problem

  1. Step change in Energy demand – In coming decades, the world will need huge amounts of energy to support population and economic growth and improve standards of living. We expect the global demand for energy will double by 2050.
  2. Supply will struggle to keep pace – Energy supply from all sources will struggle to keep up with demand. There will be continued dependence on fossil fuels such as oil, gas and coal and we will also need rapid growth in renewables.
  3. Environmental stresses are increasing – Energy needs to be produced in environmentally and socially responsible ways. Environmental stresses from producing and using energy are increasing. There is an urgent need for low carbon technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The Solution

  • Conventional oil and gas exploration, recovery, and extraction
  • Non-conventional oil and gas
  • Alternative and renewable energy (solar, wind, hydrogen, biofuels, geothermal, etc.)
  • Renewable and bio-based chemicals
  • Mobility / smart mobility
  • Energy efficiency / smart grid
  • Energy finance and trading

Agenda

  • 6:30pm – Pizza, networking and introductions
  • 6:45pm – 8 startup pitches; investor panel provides actionable advice following each pitch
  • 8:15pm – The audience votes for the best startup; winners announced and prizes awarded
  • 8:30pm – Drinks at nearby location

Simulcast of June NYTM at New Work City

Note: This listing is for watching a live video stream of the event with other community members at New Work City, it is not for watching the main event in person at NYU.

For the simulcast: join a small group of friends and fellow technologists to watch NY Tech Meetup live from New Work City. You’ll have a chance to connect and enjoy a beer, all while watching the demos at NYTM’s monthly event.

Fair warning: the audiovisual experience may not be completely perfect. We’re constantly working to ensure that the stream runs smoothly and free of interruption, but you shouldn’t be surprised if there are some occasional issues during the course of the stream. Thankfully, the stream itself is only one part of the value of coming!

The best part about this event is the opportunity to meet like-minded people. Before and after the event there will be ample opportunities for networking with fellow attendees. Use this time to get to know people!

If you’re a New Work City member: we’ll hold some extra spots for you. Add yourself to the wait list if the event is full!
