NYC startup denizens, bust out the pom poms and the insults: Everlane, an online retailer specializing in really, really fancy t-shirts, is hosting a New York-based job fair in conjunction with Projective Space, the NYC coworking space. The point of the job fair? To convince engineers, designers and sales people that New York sucks and they should move to Los Angeles or San Francisco. (L.A.? Really?)

According to the site, 70 percent of Everlane’s employees were snared with promises of nicer weather and nicer people and convinced to relocate from New York to the west coast. To prove this point, Everlane spotlighted three employees who recently traded in the city that doesn’t sleep for the city that looks super pretty but frankly smells like a gigantic toilet at almost all times.

There’s former intern Lee, who traded the “rat race” of the life of a New York intern for a design gig in Sausalito; Robert, who now lives in the “beautiful” waterfront neighborhood of the Marina, which has reached Park Slope levels of annoyance in recent years; and Nan, who appears to equate Goldman Sachs with New York itself.

Of course, it seems the city itself was only a small part of the trio’s issue with New York. As one NYC techie : “[The] real problem was that they all had awful jobs. Intern, hedge fund, finance. No wonder they hated it.”

Projective Space’s LES branch is hosting the New York job fair this Saturday, and if you really hate living in NYC and want to work at a fancy clothes website perhaps you should attend. Plus, Everlane promises to bribe you with $ 5,000 in relocation money and a first-class one-way ticket.
