We Also Watched a Live-Blog of Apple’s iPhone Announcement

iPhone 5C…you from space. (Photo: Apple) Today, large tech company Apple held a routine announcement about two new models of the iPhone. It’s the highest of holidays for those who are fed up with their cracked iPhones, sick of their Android-powered candy bars and others regretting that Nokia Lumia phone purchase. And, similar to attending temple, it ate up entirely too much of our day and we felt super sleepy afterwards. At least we got some fancy new iPhones out if it.  But since our contract isn’t up for another 16 months, we’re excited to play around with it at the Apple store some day ... Read More

The Most Ridiculous Thing Apple Announced Today Is Assuredly This Holey iPhone 5C Case (AAPL)

Apple is known for designing some of the most beautiful products in the world and its $ 29 cases for the new plastic iPhone 5C today, it was a letdown. Apple tried to design a case that would let the colorful phone shine through, but it falls pretty short. The cases look like Swiss cheese, with rows of tiny dots that seem likely to collect dirt. At the risk of being total aesthetes, we think the cases look ridiculous. Judge for yourself below. Join the conversation about this story »      Tech

Passengers Would Forgo Basic Human Rights, Like Legroom, To Have In-Flight WiFi

Did this putter out? (Photo: Flickr) If there’s something that excites you people more than WiFi on the subway platforms, then it’s definitely accessing the Internet while being 30,000 feet in the air. Increasingly, internet access is the most-requested perk from air travelers–even if being able to log on means they have to give up basic human rights.

Apple’s iPhone 5C Will Run $549 And $649 Off-Contract

Apple’s new iPhone 5C will run $ 549 for a 16GB and $ 649 for a 32GB model off contract, according to Apple’s store site. The iPhone 5C will be available for pre-order on September 20th and will run $ 99 and $ 199 on contract. But it’s the off-contract pricing that has been the more interesting story with the less expensive device. The new iPhone has long been touted as its answer to emerging markets and those areas of the world where subsidized pricing doesn’t work. These prices are definitely along the high line of initial estimates regarding the ... Read More

Business Insider’s Sexist CTO Has Resigned, But He’s Still Everything That’s Wrong With Tech

Brogrammer ad (Photo: Twitter) No week is really a great week to be a woman in tech, but this week has been especially terrible–and ladies, it’s only Tuesday. Hot on the heels of Techcrunch’s Titstare embarrassment, the CTO of one of tech media’s most prolific publications revealed himself to be a hateful bigot fond of tweeting the n-word alongside boring, overplayed missives about “feminazis.” Until this morning, Pax Dickinson was the CTO of Business Insider, and even though he’s been spewing bile 140 characters at a time for quite a while, it took a Twitter shitstorm to force his resignation. It ... Read More
